When the Chinese government was deciding which form of 3G to go for it gave a largely home-grown standard the lion's share of the spectrum. China has reserved 155 MHz for the time-division synchronised CDMA (TD-SCDMA), a version of 3G co-developed by Siemens and Datang Telecom Technology, a spinout from, the China Academy of Telecommunications Technology (CATT), a Chinese research institution.
