Peter F. Stacey · Contemporary Music Review · 1989
This paper opens with an historical outline of the theories and techniques of the conjunction of music and text, from Plato to Schopenhauer, and proceeds to a more detailed discussion of music and text in the twentieth century. The second part of the paper describes a proposed method for the analysis of the conjunction of music and text in contemporary composition.
