ON THE MECHANISM OF 3 d-TRANSITIONS IN K-ABSORPTION SPECTRA OF TRANSITION-METAL COMPOUNDS

1s-3d transitions in K-absorption spectra of Fe in Fe2O3 single crystals have been investigated. By means of linearly polarized X-radiation and corresponding selection rules the dipole character of transitions is verified. Mixing mechanism of 3d- and 4p-orbitals via crystalline fields is explained.
