GP: A Partial Parser on the Basis of the DCG Formalism

Sebastian Goeser · Literary and Linguistic Computing · 1988

This paper reports on work in the area of applying unification grammars to a text analysis task. A parsing program GP is introduced by defining the grammar formalism it works on, which can be seen as a mainly semantic extension to the DCG formalism. It is shown, that GP proves useful to feature percolation and function assignment even if only partial lexical information is available. Finally, a few implementational details of the GP program are discussed.
