With modern mobile communication devices, many services are often received in parallel, therefore the receivers for the various services must be robust to many different signals on different frequencies. They have to operate for the most diverse services, such as mobile phone communication or radio and television broadcasting and navigation. For example, the U.S. global positioning system (GPS), the Russian Globalnaya navigatsionnaya sputnikovaya sistema (GLONASS) system, and the European Galileo system are commonly used to determine the actual position of a device, vehicle, aircraft, ship, etc. All of these systems operate on frequencies in the L-band between 1.1 and 1.6 GHz. The linearity and ruggedness of the navigation receiver are necessary to maintain the connection, particularly when used in harsh environments with strong interference signals from the mobile phone. Lownoise operation and broadband functionality is generally required for the reception of the weak satellite signals over the entire L-band. And of course, low power consumption is necessary to achieve a long battery life.
