Global Ambient Intelligence: An autonomic approach
Michele Amoretti, Marco Picone, Francesco Zanichelli · 2012
The challenge of Global Ambient Intelligence (GAmI) calls for a technological framework enabling the integration of context-awareness and location-awareness. At the same time, it is also highly necessary the role of a subscription and notification mechanism that, starting from context, triggers services within the GAmI system. We argue that the glue between GAmI software components should be realized by a middleware that manages connectivity and messaging by implementing event channels and service sharing mechanisms based on advanced decentralized protocols. Moreover, it should provide self-organization and self-adaptation mechanisms in order to support the (spontaneous or induced) dynamic creation of composite services, and support seamless task migration. In this view, we propose the novel middleware called NAM4J, and we illustrate how it can be used to build a GAmI mobile sensing application.
