Influence of clipping during signal detection by crosscorrelation method

S.G. Braun · Electronics Letters · 1969

The crosscorrelation of a harmonic signal buried in severe noise with another of the same frequency decreases by a constant factor when clipping occurs. Calculation of this factor for a Gaussian noise shows that signal detection may be enhanced by a factor of 2.3 by overdriving the measuring channel.
