Invariant Imbedding, Riccati Transformations and Eigenvalue Problems

Eigenvalue calculations for systems of ordinary differential equations using invariant imbeding and Riccati transformations techniques have appeared independently in recent literature. The parallel development of these investigations is discussed and their equivalence demonstrated in the context of Couette flow between rotating cylinders.
