A light weight SLA management infrastructure for cloud computing

Duo Liu, Utkarsh Kanabar, Chung–Horng Lung · 2013

Cloud computing is a promising trend for future computing and data storage based on its outstanding scale and efficiency advantage. Cloud providers should provide reliable and stable resource and services to customers while maintaining service level agreements (SLAs). Establishing a cloud platform that is easy to deploy and easy to use, and developing an efficient monitoring tool to detect SLA violations at the application layer is not only important to customers, but also critical to cloud providers as well. This paper presents lightweight cloud environment with low intrusion. The proposed cloud platform is useful for facilitating concept validation of new research ideas and/or conducting experiments for empirical analysis based on its scalable and flexible characteristics. The recommended SLA violation detection approach is effective and provides key parameters for prototyping and experiments.
