Gray codes and the symbolic dynamics of quadraticmaps

Alvarez et al. use Gray codes to study the symbolic sequences with two symbols which arise from superstable orbits of iterations of quadratic maps. They state several results without proof. A simplified version of this idea is presented, and proofs for the assertions proposed there are presented.
