The Evaluation of Selected Measures of Spoken Vocabulary Using the Consumer's Guide Criteria

Linda Brown, Brian R. Bryant · Remedial and Special Education · 1985

Focus on Appraisal regularly reviews specific standardized measures, using the objective evaluative criteria developed for A Consumer's Guide to Tests in Print (see RASE 5:1, January/February 1984, pp. SS-61). This issue reviews selected measures of spoken vocabulary, i.e., test scores that yield information about individuals' abilities to understand the meaning of the words they hear or to use spoken words appropriately. Thus, measures of spoken vocabulary may tap either the receptive (listening) or expressive (speaking) aspects of language.
