Bass Violin and the Seven-Foot Contrabass Violin
Carleen Maley Hutchins · The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America · 1965
The development of the two largest instruments in the new violin family, the bass violin and the contrabass violin, present some interesting complications in scaling for desired resonance placement and other physical factors, as well as for tone quality and size of musicians. The two instruments are discussed and demonstrated. [Work supported by the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation and the Catgut Acoustical Society.]
