Linear Dynamical Systems and Instantons in Yang-Mills Theory

In this paper a new connection between linear systems theory and Yang-Mills gauge theory is described. This relation has appeared theough recent work of Atiyah et al . on the parametrization of all instanton solutions of the Yang-Mills equation on R 4 . As a result of this work, the parameter space M(SU( m ), n ) of SU( m )-instantons can be imbedded into a space Mn,mcr,co of linear multimode systems and we study the topology of these spaces.
