Alternative approach to the acquisition of long-term field data (atmospheric measurement)

A. D. Surridge, F Ypenburg · Journal of Physics E Scientific Instruments · 1983

The implementation of a field data-logging system to measure atmospheric winds and temperatures is described. The data acquisition unit is essentially an analogue device with universal inputs for alternative applications. Six channels of data are integrated and recorded simultaneously, each having a resolution better than 1% of maximum input amplitude over two minutes of recording time. The whole unit will run unattended for one month, consuming 55 mW of power. The system has wider application for use at remote stations where low-power, unattended systems providing good reliability at low cost are required.
