A Secure and Efficient BiometricAuthentication as a Service for Cloud Computing

Authentication is a critical requirement in cloud environment to safeguard the critical enterprise data. The traditional techniques like password, smart card combinationare proved as failure in authenticating the users. Enterprises are moving to biometric based user authentication. The processing of user biometrics requires huge computational power, which cannot afford by the resource drained mobile devices. Hence, enterprises are conceptualizinga new trend in cloud computing called Biometric Authentication as a Service (BioAaaS) on top of SaaS model. BioAaaS is still in conceptual stage. In this context, we propose a secure and light weight remote user authentication scheme using a service agent which provides BioAaaS to the service provider cloud.
