Back in February of 1991 Robert Alan Thomas, a former furniture mover with a keen interest in computers, opened a bulletin board system with 12 photos and a single phone line. From his home in Milpitas, California, Thomas and his wife Carleen worked long hours, sometimes throufh the night to scan in new, hard to find photographs. but by 1994 the overtime had paid off. The Thomas' BBS had more than 3600 subscribers, and their income had exceeded $800 000.
