Adaptive relaying effectively utilize the user for relaying adhering to the channel variation. Thus adaptive relaying is preferred over fixed relaying, in order to improve the performance of cooperative diversity. This paper investigate the threshold based selective relaying, where the relay forward the source signal only when the instantaneous Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) is above the threshold. In this proposed work, we use optimum threshold from the analysis of exact Symbol Error Probability (SEP). Thereby, we derived the end to end SEP for Cooperative Diversity system using Switched Selection Combining (SSC) with Selective Decode and Forward (SDF) based on optimized threshold. The performance of proposed scheme with Selective relaying has reduced error rate than the conventional cooperative diversity scheme.
