Following [AL 81] a component is any identifiable mechanism which maintains a pattern of behaviour at an interface between the mechanism and its environment, where the interface is simply the logical place of interaction between the two.Components interact under control of a design 1.The environment of a component -one or more other components --provides input to and receives output fi'om that component, i.e. a component provides service in response to requests from its environment.
