Minimum worst case processing loss
R.J. Webster · IEEE Transactions on Acoustics Speech and Signal Processing · 1988
A figure of merit-the worst-case processing loss-is defined to characterize a data window's influence on the detection of a tone in broadband noise using the discrete Fourier transform. The minimum loss is close to -3 dB and occurs when the window's normalized second moment is about 1/5.>
