Purely Hyperfine Predissociation in the B State of the IF Molecule

We present new experimental results concerning the predissociation of the B state of the IF molecule. These results and their theoretical analysis demonstrate that this predissociation is purely hyperfine and it appears to be the first example of this phenomenon. The full understanding of this type of process is important in several domains of physics (ultracold atom collisions, photoinduced isotopic fractionation).
