Stockhausen's electronic works; sketches and work‐sheets from 1952–1967
Richard Toop · Interface · 1981
The extensive literature on Stockhausen's tape compositions is mainly concerned with finished products and printed scores. This article gives a survey of the extant sketch materials, from the earliest “musique concrete” etudes to Hymnen. In addition to discussion of the composition techniques underlying the various works, the article reproduces fair copies of many of the sketches from which they were realised.
