An Efficient Approach for Distributed Regression Testing of Object Oriented Programs

Testing of software is one of the most important phases in the software development life cycle. Testing is performed to ensure the quality of the product developed. As the software system grows, it becomes more and more difficult to test the entire system. Thus, testing minor changes in the software became difficult. Regression testing was introduced to overcome this issue by testing only the changed portion of the system. This paper presents a novel approach in distributed regression testing of object oriented software. The approach presented in this paper makes use of data flow and control flow analysis of the source code to aid in distribution of the software during testing. The test cases are executed in parallel, minimizing the time required for the testing process. The proposed method reduces the time required by executing common portion of code only once. This method provides excellent code coverage.
