Quantum noise properties and power requirements of optical transmission line taps

A. N. Chaba, Matthew J. Collett, Daniel F. Walls · Quantum Optics Journal of the European Optical Society Part B · 1992

The authors consider three measurement schemes: a beam splitter; a back action evading detector; and a passive device using intracavity second harmonic generation. They consider them as receivers or information taps in an optical transmission line. They calculate their power requirements and compare their performance, according to criteria expressed in terms of the relevant correlation coefficients as a function of the available power.
