Precise Delineation Technique By Quantitative Computed Tomography

Tianhu Lei, Wilfred Sewchand · Proceedings of SPIE, the International Society for Optical Engineering/Proceedings of SPIE · 1988

Two techniques are presented for precise image delineation. They are based on the statistical properties of CT image. In the first, the image is directly sampled to obtain estimates of statistical parameters of regions; filters are then designed (for a given confidence level) to extract the desired image regions. The second technique uses a cluster algorithm to obtain the parameter estimates of image classes and then uses a Bayesian segmentation procedure to obtain the delineated images. The two techniques verified each other. The results of applying these two techniques to the delineation of CT image are also described.
