Equation-based hybrid modeling of power systems for time-domain simulation
Patrick Panciatici, Angela S. Chieh · 2011
Important progress has been made in recent years on the development of common formats for the exchange of power system data. However, the same consideration does not hold true in regard to the exchange of mathematical models. The purpose of this paper is to explore a modeling approach on which a format for model exchange could be based. The proposed approach employs the equation-based hybrid modeling paradigm, well suited for the modeling of multi-domain physical systems. The Modelica language, representative of the state-of-the-art in equation-based hybrid modeling, is chosen to illustrate the implementation of the approach. A small but complex test system is modeled using Modelica and the resulting model is simulated on an open platform.
