A Method of Controlling Rate-of-Change of Temperature
P H Bigg, F D Jones · Journal of Scientific Instruments · 1949
Rate-of-change of temperature may be controlled automatically by transforming it into a temperature difference, through the agency of differing thermal time constants, and using this temperature difference to control the heat input or extraction. A general description of a particular application is given. It is suggested that the principle could be adapted to precise control of rate-of-change of temperature under a variety of circumstances from a small water-bath in the laboratory to an annealing oven in industry.
