The performance of dual-hop wireless communication systems with semi-blind amplify-and-forward (AF) relays over independent, but not necessarily identically distributed, η-μ fading channels is investigated. This performance is studied based on the evaluation of the outage probability, average bit-error probability (ABEP), and average end-to-end received signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). To this end, novel expressions for the outage probability and average end-to-end received SNR are derived. Moreover, an expression for end-to-end SNR of the probability density function (PDF) is derived. Based on the derived PDF, we then obtain a novel expression for the generalized moments of the received SNR. We conduct extensive simulation in order to study the effect of the fading parameters (i.e., η and μ) on the system performance. Our findings show that, in contrast to the fading parameter η, μ has a significant impact on the system performance. In addition, simulation results demonstrate that, the derived expressions match very well with the numerical simulations.
