Audio-visual Poetics in Interactive Multimedia

In this article, multimedia interactive works from an exhibition of artworks on CD-ROMs are studied in relation to several key elements. The article explores options for the analysis of multimedia works in relation to media forms considered precursors to multimedia. In particular, it questions whether Michel Chion's model of cinema soundtrack analysis can be applied to current multimedia forms.
