CD error characterization: differences between CD-ROM and writable CD
Dennis G. Howe · Proceedings of SPIE, the International Society for Optical Engineering/Proceedings of SPIE · 1994
A system that directly measures errors on Compact Discs has been developed. This system will be used to study the differences in initial and time/temperature/handling-induced errors that may occur on both pressed (CD-ROM) and writable (CD-R) discs. Data reliability estimates that are independent of the CD-player used to read the discs (i.e., independent of the CIRC decoding strategy/implementation) will also be obtained.
