The "full polymorphic package" (FPP)

Étienne Forest, F. Schmidt · ACM SIGPLAN Fortran Forum · 2001

In this short note we present a Fortran 90 attempt at creating a polymorphic Power Series/Double Precision type. This type came "alive" in our Full Polymorphic Package or FPP. This work was then followed by the creation of a simulation code for accelerator physics called the "Polymorphic Tracking Code" (PTC code). The presence of a polymorphic Real/Taylor type is motivated by the realization that all of standard accelerator theory can be efficiently described in terms of maps describing propagation for a finite time.
