A Critique of the Concept "Universe of Attributes"

This article is a discussion of what the authors believe to be a major shortcoming of a scale theory based on the “universe of attributes” concept. They contend that scale analysis provides information about both unidimensionality and content when the items scale, but that little can be said about the items which do not scale except that the content is not unidimensional
