High data predictive coders

A. J. Golberg · The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America · 1975

This paper describes how adaptive predictive coding techniques can be used to improve voice transmission at data rates of 9.6 and 16 Kbps. With the use of multilevel quantizers, these coders do not perceptually degrade voice transmission over the original when operated at 16 Kbps if the coder employs a 2500-Hz bandwidth. Performance will be demonstrated by signal-to-noise measurements and by audio recordings.
