Diversity is not perversity

This issue of Redox Report contains a number of short refereed papers arising from the Oxidative Pathways in Health and Disease conference held in Sydney, Australia, in December 1999. Contributors to the conference were asked to summarise their presentations in a brief paper of a few hundred words with one or two sets of data in the form of tables, charts or micrographs. The manuscripts were then reviewed and accepted, modified, or rejected in the normal way. The end result is, I feel, rather satisfying. There is nothing quite so dull as reading through reams of abstracts associated with conferences, particularly after the event. These papers, on the other hand, do distil the essential ideas into a very few words.
