On the evaluation of expressions using accumulators, stacks and store-to-store instructions

At the risk of incurring even greater wrath from Peter Denning [l], on which more later, I venture to set down my thoughtsabout Myers:' attempt[2] to'answer '~ the points which I raised in a previous contribution [3], which was in turn an attempt to give a more balanced perspective on the issues raised in Myers' earlier note[4] advocating the use of store-to-store instruction formats rather than register -and/or stack-oriented instruction formats for evaluating expressions.My first thought, prompted in part by the complexity of the previous sentence, is that this should soon be brought to a close, unless someone has something radically different to contribute on it.
