Errors and Number of Choices on the Punchboard
Walter A. Kaess · Psychological Reports · 1963
If N Ss answer an item having equally plausible alternatives on the punchboard, the errors to any particular will be N/2. This relationship is independent of the number of item choices available. A similar relationship is specified for an item in which all distractors but not the correct answer are equally plausible.
