Synthesis of bowed strings
Julius O. Smith · The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America · 1982
A model for the bowed string is derived which is inexpensive to implement in digital hardware. Since it requires a pulse-train input, it is ideal for use in conjunction with automatic signal modeling such as linear prediction and system identification methods. Due to the physical nature of the model, it is typically easy to add subtle refinements based on advances in the understanding of bowed strings.
