A performance monitoring system for VoIP gateways
Adrian E. Conway · 2000
A system is developed to monitor performance at voice-over-IP (VoIP) gateways in an IP-telecom network. The gateways provide a bridge for VoIP calls between the IP network and the conventional circuit-switched telephone network. The monitoring system provides a range of traffic and performance statistics on an ongoing basis. This information is used for performance monitoring and management, capacity planning, resource optimization, load balancing, and troubleshooting, in order to maintain VoIP service at or above required quality of service levels. The system includes a web page interface for charting performance data and generating reports.
