Top-down programming of an interactive cardiac pathology data system

A cardiac pathology data system was designed from the top down. The design began with specification of the main goal: quantitate heart muscle damage in heart attack victims. This paper summarizes the tasks necessary to accomplish the goal and the refinement of the data structure from an abstract level to a concrete level.
