This paper discusses a compact triple band T-DMB/DAB RF tuner with an FM receiver. Use with existing baseband chips constrained the IF interfaces to a bandpass IF output, and an analogue AGC control voltage, with no modification of the OFDM demodulator DSP. There are significant challenges with the design of a zero IF receiver that does not have baseband support for DC offset nulling, so a near-zero IF architecture was chosen, despite the disadvantages of an RF image response and higher power consumption.
