THE USE OF COMPLETE, NONLINEAR, BLOCK CODES FOR NONLINEAR, NONINVERTIBLE MIXING OF PSEUDORANDOM SEQUENCES

John R. Michener · Cryptologia · 1987

Complete, nonlinear block transformations, such as the U.S. Data Encryption Standard, are proposed as nonlinear and noninvertible mixers of pseudorandom series. The outputs of such mixers do not possess unique inverses, significantly hindering analysis of the output. The ready availability of hardware and software implementations of such block codes allows the easy implementation of such systems.
