Evaluating the performance of unified or split caches with simulation tools

The paper shows influence of instruction dependencies to performance of different structure of cache systems. Obviously using of split cache structure is giving better results for parameters like cache miss rate, TLB miss rate, cache access and others, but some of program applications have better results for unified caches. For research of impact of different program traces on cache performance we use simulation tool SimpleScalar.
