Virtual instrument for truth table construction of analytically-defined Boolean functions

Vladimir Mateev · 2008

A Web-based virtual instrument for testing students' knowledge to construct truth tables of analytically-defined Boolean functions is presented in the article. It is a component of the testing subsystem of the Internet based Digital Logic Design Virtual Laboratory (DLDVL) that can be used from authorized users only. The instrument gives the possibility for the students to decide different tasks and for the teacher to trace out the activity of every separate student. At its instantiation the instrument establish a socket connection with a specialized server, gets the task's definition, places facilities at student's disposal to express task's decision and trace and records in a database all students activity during his/her interaction with the instrument. The records are used for students' assessment and form students' models. The instrument is realized as a Java applet. It has been used in the education of future computer, communication and electronic engineers at Rousse University "A. Kanchev".
