Embedded electronic multimedia systems to a wide emerged in recent years. These systems are more complex and diversified. The SoC (System on Chip) must respect many important constraints. It must operate in extreme conditions (network problems, limited energy consumption…). In this paper, we present an adaptation technique based on the dynamic reconfiguration features of Xilinx FPGA. The purpose of this technique is to reduce the computing time of a complex multimedia application by adding a variable number of hardware computing units. A case study is presented on a real system using the Xilinx design environment to develop a 3D application. This used application is the augmented reality (AR).
