Processing structure declarations with APL

APL is sometimes used for processing data that have been created as a structure defined by a Declare-statement in PL/I-related languages; particularly when the data are obtained from a file. When the structure of the data is complex, it is time-consuming manually to create APL code to break up the data into its constituent parts. This article describes a method for converting structure declarations into a form usable by APL functions.
