Statistical analysis of orientation data

Abstract Directional data, if bimodal, concentrated over a small range, or determined only over a range of 180 degrees are best treated by methods of statistical analysis different from those generally used. Before application of a statistical technique to directional data, the analyst should define the distribution of his population.
