Slant estimation of handwritten characters by means of Zernike moments

Slant estimation is an indispensable technique for handwritten analysis. Proposed is a novel method for slant estimation based on the average inclination of the Zernike reconstructed images for low moments. This method improves the linearity of the characteristic curve in comparison with a generalised chain code method.
