Information retrieval in the presence of speckle and quantum noise

P. Mohana Shankar, H. M. Gupta · Electronics Letters · 1979

Effect of speckle and quantum noise on optical-information retrieval is studied in terms of error probability. It is shown that the presence of speckle increases the error probability considerably compared to that in the absence of it. The effect of more dark current of the photodetector is to increase the error probability further.
