Theoretical consideration of linear condensation polymerization in a dispersed medium

Abstract The combinatorial approach to the problem of linear polymers, developed earlier, is applied in the present paper in order to study the statistical nature of condensation polymers obtained from a large number of very small systems. The results of the customary theory become inapplicable in such cases for sufficiently high degrees of polymerization which should be attainable experimentally. The possibility of realizing homogeneous samples by direct polymerization is discussed from a theoretical standpoint.
