k-Hop Sharable Sensing in Cognitive Radio Networks

Jae‐Kark Choi, Sang‐Jo Yoo · IEEE Communications Letters · 2012

In this letter, a new cognitive radio sensing strategy termed k-hop sharable sensing (KS-sensing) is proposed. In KS-sensing, the sensing outcomes of a secondary user (SU) can be shared by neighboring SUs within k hops, while the primary users (PUs) are protected in terms of detection probability. As the number of sensing channels increases, compared to the SU's individual local sensing, KS-sensing not only reduces the sensing overhead and the interference ratio but also improves the channel access opportunity. Numerical results are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of KS-sensing.
