GRAPHIC PERCEPTIONS OF LANGUAGE IN OTTAWA-HULL

The use of the computer is explained in the production of three-dimensional diagrams that give a spatial perspective to assist the perception of the map user. The technique is demonstrated through examples of simple choropleth maps produced using GIMMS, and then by portraying the same distribution in three-dimensional form by the use of PREVU. The versatility of this program is also demonstrated by presenting the diagrams from three different viewpoints.On explique l'utilisation de l'ordinateur pour la production de diagrammes tridimensionnels qui fournissent un perspective dans l'espace et aident l'utilisateur a mieux percevoir la carte. On demontre cette technique a l'aide d'exemples de cartes statistiques simples realisees en utilisant GIMMS, et en presentant ensuite la meme serie de cartes dans sa forme tridimensionnelle a l'aide du systeme PREVU. On demontre egalement les possibilites de ce programme en presentant les diagrammes a partir de trois points de vue differents.
